Why Buzzing Consonants Build Resonance

The Z Sound: Creating Continuous Vibration
Position your tongue so the tip is close to (but not touching) your alveolar ridge. Your teeth should be close together but not clenched. Blow air through the narrow gap while phonating. This creates the "zzz" sound.
You should feel buzzing on your tongue tip, in your upper teeth, and possibly in your nose and upper face. The sensation is similar to the TH buzz but with your tongue inside your mouth rather than between your teeth.
The Z sound is voiced (your vocal folds vibrate), unlike the unvoiced S sound. Make sure you are phonating, not just blowing air. You should hear a clear pitch, not white noise.
Singing Scales on Z: The Pattern
