The "Ng" sound (as in the word "Sing") is a secret weapon for singers. It creates high backpressure which helps the vocal folds come together without strain. At the same time, it naturally raises your soft palate and encourages a low, relaxed larynx. This combination creates the perfect setup for a resonant, projecting voice, often called the "Singer's Formant."
This exercise is particularly good for navigating the upper part of your range (Head Voice) without sounding breathy or weak.
Actionable Step: The Ng Glide
1. The Sound
Say the word "Hung" or "Sing" and hold the final "Ng" sound. The back of your tongue touches the roof of your mouth, blocking all air from exiting your mouth. The sound comes only through your nose.
2. The Feel
Feel a strong buzz in your nasal cavity, maybe even in your cheekbones (The Mask). Keep your jaw relaxed and slightly open, even though your tongue is blocking the mouth.
3. The Drill
Glide from the root note up to the 5th and back down. Keep the slide smooth and connected.

Pro Tip: If the sound feels "stuck" in your throat, try to direct the buzz more forward into your nose. Imagine you are aiming the sound at a point right between your eyebrows.
